I’m the most criticised celebrity in Nigeria – Davido

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has said he is the most criticised celebrity in Nigeria due to his privileged background.

Speaking on the Culture Knock Out podcast, the singer revealed that public perception shifted after it became known that he came from a wealthy family.

“In the beginning, people didn’t know my father was rich. By the time they found out, I had already released three hit songs,” he said.

He added, “Over time, people started hating me because my dad is rich. But I just wanted to do music, and I’ve kept at it.”

Davido also noted that criticism often comes with success. “Once you become the biggest in anything, people will criticise you,” he said.
