Ikpeazu won’t join issues with predecessors over Abia’s governance – Ememanka

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has vowed he will not join issues with his predecessors regarding the governance of the state.

He said this via a statement titled ‘Carry your cross’ by Onyebuchi Ememanka, his Chief Press Secretary, on Tuesday.

He was speaking against the backdrops of a recent statement by the immediate past Governor of the state and the current representative of Abia Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Theodore Orji.

Newsmen gathered that Orji had advised Ikpeazu not to drag him or his administration into the current face-off between him and the Nigerian Labour Congress over unpaid wage bills.

However, Ememanka, while speaking on Tuesday, stated Ikpeazu is proudly carrying the cross of the governance of Abia State and will continue to carry it till his tenure ends.

“As a personal policy, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu will not join issues with any of his predecessors in office.

“For the almost eight years he has held as a governor, he has not engaged any of his predecessors in any kind of untoward exchange, even when it seemed politically expedient to do so.

“This policy is largely responsible for the socio-political stability we have enjoyed in Abia state since 2015.

“The governor intends to sustain this personal policy going forward”.

The spokesman added, “Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is of the view that as in all matters, history and posterity will, over time, put all things in proper perpesctive”.
