Igbo man’s life not spent on blood – FG told to provide security for Southeast

Uju Kingsley Chima, a member of the House of Representatives, has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to provide the Southeast region with adequate security for Saturday’s general election.

Chima said that if the Federal Government provides adequate security for the Southeast, then the over 10 million registered voters in the region will participate in the 2023 election.

Speaking on Arise TV on Thursday, the federal lawmaker insisted that the life of an Igbo man is not spent on blood.

Chima said, “It is a bit disappointing for us to comment in this direction, I feel that if provided with adequate security in the Southeast, I am sure that before 7 pm on Saturday, those results will come out very comfortably in favour of the popular candidates.

“On and is only when you want to change the wills of the people and when you are not popular. If a candidate is popular, why would you go the extra mile to undermine the life of people? This is not the life of a southeasterner. This is not the life of an Igbo man.

“A life of an Igbo man is not spent on blood, and why would somebody’s blood be worth the aspiration of a single man? That is the question.

“I strongly believe that if provided with adequate security, Southeast with ten plus something million voters will [give] the whole ten plus something million to INEC.

“What we are appealing to the federal government of Nigeria is to provide us security so that we can go into the election and come out victorious.”
