Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has claimed he was involved in convincing Arsene Wenger to return to the Emirates after four and a half years.
Wenger was in the stands as the Gunners fought back from one goal down to beat West Ham 3-1 on Boxing Day.
It was the first time the 73-year-old was in the stadium after he left the club in May 2018.
When asked if he was heavily involved in convincing Wenger to return, Arteta said: “I have been involved in the process.
“But it is about him, the timing that he needed to make that step and hopefully he is going to leave here and be willing to spend more time with us and be around us because he’s such an influence.”
Arsenal’s next Premier League game will be at Brighton on December 31.
