Heavy security presence as judgment set for today

There was a heavy presence of security personnel on Tuesday at the premises of the Osun State High Court, Osogbo, ahead of the judgment in the murder case of Timothy Adegoke.

Adegoke, a postgraduate student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, died mysteriously inside his hotel room at Hilton Hotels, Ile-Ife, in November 2021.

His death has been seen as a case of murder by the state.

Six workers of the hotel and its Chairman, Dr Raheem Adedoyin, the Maye of Ile-Ife, were arrested and arraigned in relation to the alleged murder case.

The six workers are: Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem, Adebayo Kunle and Adedeji Adesola, and they were slammed with an 18-count charge of conspiracy, murder, felony, indecent interference of the corpse, alteration, and cancellation of receipt and oath-taking to prevent justice.

The heavily armed policemen were observed screening everybody gaining entrance into the courtroom.

They were also observed at different locations within the Osun State High Court premises, taking up vantage positions.

As of 10:09 am, the judge was yet to sit to commence the reading of the judgment.
