‘He would have killed me’ – Ngige reveals why he rejected Chris Uba as deputy

Former Anambra State governor, Chris Ngige has disclosed why he refused to pick Chris Uba as his deputy governor despite his intimidating political posture in the state.

Ngige said he rejected the choice of Uba because he could kill him.

He said with the immunity that deputy governors have, Uba could walk into his office and shoot him dead without raising any dust.

He also revealed that the people of Anambra State never liked Uba, hence his refusal.

The former Minister of Labour and Employment disclosed this while speaking with Vanguard about the intrigues that led to his impeachment in 2006.

Ngige said, “First, if I made him (Chris Uba) deputy governor, he would have immunity and could walk into my office and shoot me.

“If he shot me, nothing would happen. Stories would be told that my orderly did it by accident.

“Second, the people of Anambra would revolt against me. That’s the even more important reason because the Anambra people have seen all those people and they didn’t hide themselves. They came and burnt down the state.”
