Hajj 2023; Kogi pilgrims visits historical sites in Madina

Pilgrims from Kogi state performing the 2023 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Thursday, concluded visitation (Ziyara), to historical sites in Madina.

The pilgrims visited places like Quba mosque, Qiblatain and mount Uhud among other sites which are very significant to the Muslims.

Quba mosque has a special and unique place in the hearts of Muslims due to its association with the prophet Muhammed -peace be upon him- as it is the first mosque ever built. It is also known to be the second largest and prominent mosque in Madina after the Prophet’s Mosque.

Also Qiblatain (Mosque of the Two Qiblas’), also spelt Masjid al-Qiblatain, is a mosque in Medina believed by Muslims to be the place where the final Islamic prophet, Muhammad, received the command to change the Qibla (direction of prayer) from Jerusalem to Mecca.

In addition Uhud was the site of the second battle between the Islamic prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), and the polytheists of his tribe of Quraysh. The Battle of Uhud was fought on 19 March, 625 CE, between a force from the small Muslim community of Medina and a force from Mecca, in north-western Arabia.

The pilgrims are expected to continue with other activities in the holy of Saudi Arabia.
