A group of concerned citizens, “Next Jigawa” has asked the electorate to vote wisely for a credible candidate who is concerned about the development of the state in the 2023 general election.
Chairman of the group Professor Usman Haruna made the call while presenting a citizen’s chatter of demand to the gubernatorial candidates of four political parties APC, NNPP, PDP, and LP in Jigawa State.
He said, Next Jigawa comprises compatriots, academicians, serving and retired technocrats, and other groups of professionals who have expressed much concern with the development of Jigawa State.
Prof Usman the objective of the group is to engage the leadership of Jigawa State at all levels to do things right according to the citizen’s demands, so that the state can develop in terms of social, economic, and other aspects of human endeavour.
He said the document consists of all the demands and needs of Jigawa state citizens that will serve as a blueprint or guide to the next leader of the state.
Responding after receiving the document, the NNPP Gubernatorial candidate Mal. Aminu Ibrahim Ringim faulted the previous administrations for their failure to cater to the yearnings and aspirations of the citizens.
“Had these areas received the attention of various governments in the state within the last 30 years, the slogan “New World” could have made much resonating meaning, and the state would not have been marked as one of the poorest in the federation with the current poverty incidence rate of 87.02%” he stated.
He said the aim is to engage the citizens to bring out their demands and engage Governments constructively
