GPMI tasks incoming administration on justice, fairness

…calls for extension of service chiefs tenure

Dr Mike Uyi, the President General, Global Peace Movement International, UK has called on the incoming administration of the President-elect, Sen Bola Tinubu, to ensure justice and fairness to all Nigerians.

Uyi made the call in a press release on Monday in London after the end of GPMI’s tour to five countries in Europe to discuss matters concerning the country, especially security.

He also stressed the need for all elected officials to respect their convenant with the God by fulfilling all their campaign promises.

“For our new incoming leaders at various levels of administration and governance in this country, they should remember that the position they have asked for and they were voted for are all trust given to them by God.

“Politics has ended now, and what is important is that all elected officials are leaders of all Nigerians and all Nigerians are their subjects. So, no more party politics after election. Therefore, they should carry along with them everybody despite the differences in political affiliations.

“They should give everybody their rights and give people whatever they have promised them during the electioneering campaigns. When they do that, God will help them come back again, otherwise God will change them with a better people in the next elections.”

He warned Tinubu against those who would want to misdirect him by advising that appointments should be based on the number of votes he got from each state and region.

“What the nation requires is mature nationalistic leadership that will accommodate all Nigerians and provide an all-inclusive fair treatment for all the divergent groups in the country on the basis of equality and fairness to everybody”.

On the issue of security, Uyi also stated that Nigerians in diaspora are of the opinion that the current service chiefs should be retained for strategic security architecture.

According to him, it is high time Nigerians realised the fact that military operations anywhere in the world require focus and absolute concentration. And in a situation whereby our soldiers are easily distracted to perform through frequent changes, the result is coming back to us.

“No nation can develop in absence of peace. We should rather encourage service chiefs who are already doing their best professionally to stabilize the security in the country”.
