*Hails Nigerian Army in the fight against insecurity
Global Peace Movement International , UK has condemned the killing of Deborah Samuel, describing it as barbaric and brutal.
At a press conference on Tuesday in Germany at the ongoing ‘Talk to our people back home’ tour, President General of GPMI, Dr Mike Uyi condemned the act, adding that it was unwarranted.
Uyi called for the arrest of the perpetrators, while urging security agents to carry out investigation towards forestalling its reoccurrence.
“No person has the right to take the law into his or her own hands. Violence has and never will solve any problem,” he said.
“The Constitution upholds the right to life and mandates all citizens to respect the rights and dignity of others. Nigeria’s laws are clear on murder,” he said.
“Any person who feels their right to freedom of religion and belief has been or is being violated, is expected by law to seek redress from the courts and not resort to jungle justice”.
Uyi noted that Deborah’s death is one too many amidst the depravity of uncontrolled banditry, kidnapping, insurgency and insecurity ravaging the country.
He equally thanked the leadership of the Nigerian Army, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya who is working tirelessly in Ensuring that Nigeria is safe from the hands of criminal elements in whatever name they call themselves.
“As we embark on the ‘Talk to our people back home’ tour for the Nigerian Army, we believe that Nigerians living aboard will support the Nigerian Army in the fight against insecurity”.
