Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Timi Frank, has called on all the international Human righhs organisations to note the record of brutal killings, especially that of Shiites people under the current administration, saying President Muhammadu Buhari and his Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, must face trial after their stay in office.

Frank said contrary to the constitutional provision that security of lives and welfare shall be the responsibility of government, the current All Progressives Congress (APC) administration is encouraging its agents to cause the killing of the citizens.

Recall that on Sunday morning, the protesting Shiites and the Nigerian Army had clashed where some protesting Shiites members were brutally killed.

But while condemning soldiers deadly use of force on supporters of Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) during a religious procession in Zuba, near Abuja, Comrade Frank, in a statement on Monday, said under President Buhari the country has seen a sharp rise in the use of brute force by security agents to quail armless demonstrators.

According to him, a country where the value of human lives continues to depreciate on a daily basis can only be referred to as a failed state.

The former APC spokesman said the continuing detention of Shia’s leader,El-Zakzaky despite several Court orders is uncivilised by any leaders in the world.

“President Buhari-led administration have been releasing the dreaded Boko Baram jihadist under the guise of ‘repentant terrorist’ yet he does not see anything wrong in attacking the shia members who are peacefully clamouring for the release of their leader who the Court of law had set free.

“The disobedience of this administration to the decision of Court of law portents danger for the country’s peace and orderliness.

“If ordinary cutizens are being kill by the security agents under an elected democratic government in this manner, such h leader must be ready to be prosecuted for genocide after his short stay in power,” Frank stated.

Continued, the outspoken former APC chieftain wondered “how can an army kill her armless citizens with live bullets? I will never support the idea that live bullets were used on the protesters. What manner of provocation will make them shoot unarmed citizens? Soldiers shooting and killing unarmed protesters is a crime against humanity.”

While calling on international community to take note of the current development, Frank also called on Amnesty International (AI) and other rights protection international organizations not to close their eyes against the act of “killing innocent citizens for no just cause.”

Alex Badeh: What Gov. Okowa said about murder of ex-Chief of Defence Staff

Published

on

The Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa on Wednesday condemned the killing of the immediate past Air Chief Marshal, Alex Badeh, retired Chief of Defence Staff.

Badeh, a four-star General of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), was shot dead on Tuesday along Abuja-Keffi expressway.

Okowa, while commiserating with the family of the deceased, described the assassination as an ‘unfortunate and terrible incident’.

He, therefore, urged security agencies to bring Badeh’s killers to book.

He tweeted, “The killing of former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh by unknown gunmen is quite unfortunate and a terrible news just like the case of General Idris Alkali who was abducted and later killed.

“I appeal to security agencies to work together and unmask those involved in the heinous crime that led to the death of the retired Defence Chief.

“Our country is being bedeviled by one manner of killings and abductions or the other. We never knew that it would deteriorate to a level where a former Chief of Defence Staff would be murdered in such a gruesome manner.

“It is my prayer and the prayers of all Deltans that the almighty God will give the family the fortitude to bear this loss.”

Alex Badeh: Atiku reveals cause of ex-Defence chief’s death, tells Buhari what to do

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has said the assassination of former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh should be blamed on rising insecurity in the country.

Badeh, a four-star General of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), was shot dead on Tuesday along Abuja-Keffi Road.

Atiku, in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, said had gunmen not waylaid the vehicle in which Alex Badeh was travelling, he would not have sustained the gunshots and the health complications that terminated his life.

Abubakar said while Badeh’s death made headline news because of the personality involved, many ordinary Nigerians are either killed or maimed on a daily basis by rampaging armed robbers, kidnappers, herdsmen and hoodlums across the country.

The former vice president noted that the best tribute that President Muhammadu Buhari can pay to the late security chief is to ensure free and fair polls next year and return home to a well-deserved rest.

The statement read: “We cannot continue to pretend that all is well with the security system in our country, where armed robbers seem to be having a field day.

“It is, therefore, time to look at credible options, especially electing a more prepared candidate who will ensure that policemen and women are well equipped and motivated. Fortunately, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had shown what can be achieved when the police are provided with adequate resources and are well motivated.

“It is no longer news that during the 16 years when the PDP was in power, the nation boasted of the better motivated, best equipped and best-mobilized policemen in the country.

“We are shocked and saddened by the circumstances of the death Mr Badeh, an air chief marshal, whom was a fine officer, among the best of his time, one who never lost touch with officers and men despite holding several top positions in the nation’s military establishment.”

Abubakar further prayed that God will grant repose to Badeh’s soul and comfort those he left behind.
