Former minister under Buhari’s govt dies at 77

Emmanuel Nsan, a former Minister of Health under the military regime of General Muhammadu Buhari, has passed away at the age of 77.

Nsan, who also served as Minister of Works and Transport during Buhari’s administration, died on Thursday, December 12, 2024, following a prolonged illness.

His death was officially confirmed on Monday morning by the head of his family, Chief Asuquo Nyong Nsan, during the opening of the mourning house.

Before venturing into politics, Nsan was a broadcaster and later pursued a career in medicine. His wife, Lolo Gladys Nsan, survives him.Political satire merchandise

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Archibong Bassey, expressed deep sorrow over his passing, describing it as a significant loss to his family, Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Cross River State, and the nation.

She praised Nsan’s exemplary leadership and commitment to public service, particularly in fostering peace and security in southern Nigeria and Cross River State.

According to his family, the funeral mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Catholic Church in Calabar on Saturday, March 8, 2025, followed by his interment.
