FG announces free entry for Nigerians in Diaspora with expired passports

Federal Government has announced that Nigerians with expired passports in the diaspora can be admitted into the country without visas.

Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) made the announcement on Monday in a letter addressed to all heads of missions, airlines, immigration attachés and airports comptroller.

The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Jere Idris, who, in a letter signed by DCI BM Lawal, the Special Assistant to the Comptroller General (Foreign Desk), directed that Nigerians with expired passports should be allowed into the country without hindrance, noted that the expired Nigeria passport must be checked to ensure they were truly from Nigeria.

“Consequently, all Airlines are requested to allow holders of expired Nigerian passports to board without let or hindrance.

“In addition, all Nigerian Diplomatic Missions abroad are kindly requested to circulate this information to airlines operators and border authorities of host countries for their necessary action,” it stated.
