These firms, awarded an EU-funded contract, are collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy (FMCIDE) to accelerate broadband expansion and drive digital literacy to 70% by 2027.

The delegation, led by Judit Erdos, visited to assess progress on implementing the National Digital Literacy Framework and to update data from a previous World Bank study. The discussions centered on key challenges, achievements, and policy recommendations that will shape Nigeria’s digital future.

Bridging the Digital Divide

Nigeria has set an ambitious goal of achieving 70% digital literacy within the next three years, a move that aligns with its broader digital economy strategy. The partnership with C&M and EUROPE Ltd is expected to provide critical insights and expertise to enhance digital infrastructure, particularly in underserved and rural areas.

Key Focus Areas

During the high-level discussions, stakeholders reviewed:

Broadband Expansion: Strategies to increase broadband penetration nationwide.

Digital Literacy Programs: Enhancing educational initiatives to equip Nigerians with digital skills.

Infrastructure Development: Addressing gaps in connectivity, especially in remote regions.

Policy Recommendations: Refining existing frameworks to facilitate sustainable growth.

With a rapidly growing digital economy, Nigeria’s ability to implement effective policies and leverage international partnerships will be crucial in achieving its 2027 target.

This latest engagement underscores the country’s commitment to digital inclusion, economic empowerment, and positioning itself as a tech-driven powerhouse in Africa.
