In what appeared like the typical Nigerian strategy used by persons standing trial, Tigran Gambaryan, an Executive of Binance Holdings Limited, arrived a Federal High court on a wheelchair, on Tuesday.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Gambaryan the cryptocurrency firm and Gambaryan on a five-count charge bordering on money laundering.
At the resumed court session on Tuesday, Gambaryan was wheeled into the court before he stood up from the wheelchair and walked slowly into the dock.
There have been reports about persons on trial using ill-health as a condition to get soft landing.
Last week, Saleh Mamman, a former power minister standing trial for alleged N33 billion fraud appeared before Justice James Tsoho of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja drenched.
The judge had asked him why he was sweating, or whether it was raining outside.
The former minister, who responded from the dock, said water was poured on him after he collapsed outside the court.
This did not stop the judge from remanding Mamman to Kuje Prison pending the hearing of his bail application in a 12-count money laundering charge the EFCC preferred against him.
