EFCC Confirms Bobrisky’s Rearrest, Reveals Reason

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the rearrest of Nigerian crossdresser Bobrisky.

The EFCC on Friday said her arrest follows her recent allegations against the agency.

Bobrisky was detained late Thursday as she was preparing to leave the country, removed from a plane by airport officials and taken into EFCC custody.

According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, Bobrisky’s rearrest was necessary for her to assist in the investigation of bribery accusations she made against the commission.

“He made allegations against our officers and was invited to assist with the investigation, but he refused to cooperate. The House of Representatives also summoned him, which he ignored. He must come forward and substantiate his claims,” Oyewale stated.

Bobrisky’s accusations against the EFCC include an audio recording shared by activist VeryDarkMan, alleging she paid N15 million to EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges.

She also claimed to have spent her six-month jail sentence in an apartment instead of prison, crediting her “godfather’s” influence. However, Bobrisky later denied the recording, calling it “fake” and threatening legal action for defamation.

A House of Representatives investigative committee set up to determine the alleged bribery involving the EFCC and Bobrisky said it found no evidence she spent her sentence outside of prison.
