Edo PVC collection hits 85.57% ahead of governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 2,249,780 Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) have been collected by registered voters in Edo State ahead of the governorship election on Saturday, September 21.

This figure represents 85.57% of the 2,629,025 total registered voters in the state.

Mr Sam Olumekun, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, revealed the data in a statement issued on Tuesday.

He highlighted that 379,245 PVCs, equating to 14.43%, remain uncollected as of Monday, September 16, following the end of the extended PVC collection period.

In preparation for the upcoming election, INEC has provided a detailed breakdown of PVC collection at the polling unit level.

There are 4,519 polling units across Edo State, each set to host voting on election day. Olumekun encouraged political parties, candidates, and the public to consult the commission’s website for the comprehensive data, which is available in a 128-page document.

“The data on PVC collection by polling unit has been uploaded to our website to aid political parties and candidates in their preparations,” Olumekun stated.

Voters and interested parties can access the information online to ensure they are fully informed ahead of the crucial election.
