Drivers sent to prison for stealing policeman’s goats

A Magistrate Court in Jos, Plateau State, on Thursday sentenced two drivers to two years imprisonment.

They were convicted of stealing two goats belonging to a police officer.

Abdulrohomod Mohammed and Umar Ibrahim pleaded guilty to stealing, according to reports.

The magistrate, Hyacinth Dolnaan gave the convicts an option of N30,000 fine each.

The duo was ordered to pay N40,000 as compensation to the owner of the animals.

The prosecution counsel, Inspector Monday Dabit told the court that the case was reported on May 29 at the Anglo-Jos Police Station.

The complainant, Insp Chris Henry, said the convicts trespassed into his house while he was in church and stole the goats worth N85,000.

The offence violated the provisions of Sections, 59, 333 and 273 of Plateau Penal Code Law.
