“Don’t endanger Igbo lives” – Ohanaeze warns Southeast Elites against backing protests

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the foremost Igbo socio-cultural organization, has warned Southeast elites to refrain from supporting the proposed nationwide protests.

The organization stated that backing the demonstrations could endanger Igbo lives and investments across the country.

In a statement sent to journalists by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Secretary General of the organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo expressed apprehension about the implications of the Southeast elites’ involvement in the protests.

The group stated that while individuals have a right to protest, such actions could inadvertently compromise the safety and security of the Igbo community, particularly amid the prevailing unrest.

”Protests can put Ndigbo at risk and have the potential to jeopardize the safety and investments of our people across the country. It is not only an affront to Ndigbo but also puts our community in a vulnerable position.

”We have concerns about the potential hijacking of the protests by criminal elements, as well as the security challenges facing the Southeast region.

”Ohanaeze Ndigbo remains committed to protecting the welfare of Ndigbo and will take all necessary measures to safeguard our community, the group stated.
