Discharge your duties according to the constitution; Kogi CJ urges new judges

Judicial officers in kogi state judiciary have been charged to discharge their duties according to constitutional requirement and oath of office taken by them.

The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Josiah Joe Majebi made the call at a Special Court session for newly appointed high Court Judges, Khadis of Sharia Court of Appeal and Judge of the customary court in Lokoja.

Justice Majebi said their appointment followed due process, hence the need for them to dispense Justice with utmost sense of diligence and trust bestowed on them.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for giving due attention to ongoing rehabilitation of Courts as well as provision of vehicles for Judges in the state.

Earlier, the representative of body of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, John Adele, SAN, called for an independent and financial autonomy for the judiciary if Kogi State to allow judicial officers perform their duties effectively without interference.

Also, in a remark,the chairman of the Lokoja chapter of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Barrister Sam Akoji, while pledging the support of the Body to an independent and corrupt free Judiciary sought for continued synergy with Judicial officers to dispense Justice without delay.

He described the newly appointed judges as men and women of impeccable character, proven to be of high integrity to occupy the elevation given them.

Responding on behalf of the Judges, Justice Sunday Ajesola promised on behalf of his colleagues to perform their duties and justify the confidence reposed in them.
