Court declares Nnamdi Kanu an international terrorist

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday declared that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, is an international terrorist and anarchy-minded person.

Justice James Omotosho in the ongoing judgment held that Kanu extended his terrorism acts to the United States of America when he ordered that the American Embassy be brought down in a broadcast.

Omotosho based his decision on another broadcast where Kanu ordered the destruction of the British High Commission and the killing of their officials.

He held that Kanu is an international terrorist by his conduct, utterances and actions as manifested in the unlawful orders he issued for the destruction of the properties of the United States of America and the United Kingdom.

The embattled leader of IPOB has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since June 2021, after he fled Nigeria but was arrested in Kenya under controversial circumstances, his lawyers describe as “extraordinary rendition”.
