In Faridpur Sadar upazila, five entrepreneurs have received grant cheques from the development organization Amra Kaj Kory (AKK) to support food processing and product marketing using ecologically produced vegetables.
The distribution took place Monday morning at AKK’s headquarters in Tepakhola, Faridpur town, under the Rural Microenterprise Transformation Project (RMTP). The initiative, part of the Value Chain Sub-project, was organized with support from the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).
According to AKK, two entrepreneurs received grants to sell processed food in tourist areas, while three others were supported for product licensing, branding, packaging, and ensuring hygienic sales facilities.
AKEK Executive Director M. A. Jalil, who attended as chief guest, pledged continued technical assistance for the beneficiaries. Program Director Rasheduzzaman Miraz was present as special guest, along with M. A. Kuddus Mia, Md. Al Amin, and Shraboni Akter of the RMTP project, as well as staff from AKK headquarters.
Entrepreneurs expressed optimism that the grants would help expand their businesses, saying safe food products from char areas could meet tourist demand. They also noted that BSTI certification, branding, and packaging would enhance their market competitiveness.
The sub-project is being implemented by Amra Kaj Kory (AKK) with technical assistance from PKSF and financial support from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and Danida.
