Cabinet Reshuffle Imminent as President Tinubu Prepares to Dissolve Appointments

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to dissolve his cabinet this week, barring a last-minute change.

According to a reliable source, the decision will pave the way for new appointments that will help achieve the president’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda.

The source revealed that President Tinubu is not satisfied with the performances of some of his ministers and is determined to show them the exit door.

The source further revealed that the list of those who will replace the axed ministers is already ready, and the president plans to reconstitute the cabinet upon his return from the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 79) in the United States.

He said: “On returning from UNGA, the president will reconstitute the cabinet.”

The 79th session of the UNGA is scheduled to take place from September 10 to September 30, 2024.

This development comes a week after reports emerged that President Tinubu was planning to rejig his cabinet to ease out underperforming ministers.

Sources within the presidency had said that a cabinet reshuffle would happen, with some ministers facing dismissal and others being reassigned to other ministries for improved effectiveness, Punch Newspaper had reported.

President Tinubu had inaugurated 45 ministers on August 21, 2023, but one of them, Betta Edu, was later relieved of her duty.

Tinubu took over from Muhammadu Buhari as president on May 29, 2023.
