Bangladesh’s Information and Broadcasting Ministry Advisor Nahid Islam resigns

Mr. Nahid Islam, Advisor to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, has resigned from the Advisory Council of the interim government of Bangladesh. He announced his resignation after an informal meeting of the Advisory Council at the State Guest House Jamuna on Tuesday (February 25) afternoon.

After resigning from the post of advisor to the interim government, Md. Nahid Islam spoke to the media. He said, “I thought that my role outside the government will be more on the streets to consolidate the forces participating in the mass uprising than in the government.”

He said these things to the media in front of the chief advisor’s residence Jamuna on Tuesday. The chief advisor’s press secretary Shafiqul Alam was present at the time.

Stating that he resigned in order to work on the ground to implement the promise of the mass uprising, Nahid Islam said that in six months he has performed additional duties outside the two ministries. Six months is a very short time. Still, he said he tried. He said that the people will evaluate his work.

Mr. Nahid Islam is going to be the convener of the new political party that is being launched under the leadership of the youth next Friday. For the past few days, there have been rumors that a new political party is coming under the leadership of Nahid Islam. Advisor Mr. Nahid Islam had also said several times that he would resign and join the new party. Today, with his resignation, that path has become much easier. The announcement of the launch of a new political party by the students will be made next Friday (February 28).

Earlier, Md. Nahid Islam resigned from the post of advisor to the interim government. Nahid Islam was serving as the advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology.
