Bangladesh’s Home Affairs Advisor suddenly holds a press conference at 3 am

Mahbub Hasan Tutul, Dhaka Correspondent:

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury claimed that the law and order situation in the country is satisfactory.

At the same time, he said that there is room for further improvement in the situation. In response to a journalist’s question about why he had to hold a press conference at 3 am on Sunday, Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, “Earlier, no one could be found at 2:30 am. We work during the day as well as at night. The press conference at night has been held to make you understand that the Home Affairs Advisor works not only during the day but also at night.”

The Home Affairs Advisor told reporters after a core committee meeting held in the meeting room of the Home Ministry at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon.

The advisor also said that it would have taken two to three days to find out about the robbery incident that took place in Banasree on Sunday night. Now everyone is immediately aware of the matter. For this reason, many may think that the law and order situation is deteriorating. This has happened before. It is still happening. He said that the law and order forces have been instructed to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

Responding to a journalist’s statement that people are panicking due to the incidents of the last few days, the Home Affairs Advisor said, A meeting was held with the law and order forces today to reassure the people. You will get a sense of the situation from the evening onwards.

The situation of the last few days was reviewed in today’s meeting, said the Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam. He told reporters that senior officials of the law and order forces were present at the meeting. Everyone took the law and order situation ‘seriously’. Dhaka has been given priority in this. Joint patrols will start from the evening onwards.
