The ‘National Consensus Commission’ has been formed under the leadership of the interim government’s Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The commission will start working from February 15.
This information was given in a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Wednesday.
The members of this commission include the heads of six commissions. The commission is chaired by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and the vice-chairman is Professor Ali Riaz, head of the Constitution Reform Commission.
The notification said that the Bangladesh government has formed a commission called the ‘National Consensus Commission’ with the approval of the interim government’s chief advisor to consider and accept the recommendations of the reform commissions.
In addition, the members of the commission include Public Administration Reform Commission Chief Abdul Mueed Chowdhury, Police Reform Commission Chief Safar Raj Hossain, Electoral Reform Commission Chief Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Justice Emdadul Haque of the Judicial Reform Commission and Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Head of the Anti-Corruption Commission Reform Commission.
The notification further said that the commission will discuss with political parties and forces to form a national consensus with a view to considering and accepting the recommendations of the commissions formed for reforms in the electoral system, police, judiciary, public administration, constitution and anti-corruption, keeping in view the upcoming elections, and will recommend steps in this regard.
