Bago is a model for other governors, says Kwankwaso

Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has described the Niger state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, as a model worthy of emulation by other governors across the country.

He said that two years down the line, Bago has performed excellently above other governors across Nigeria.

Speaking at the 60th birthday celebration of Bishop Idahosa Isaac Odiri, the vice presidential candidate of the NNPP, which took place in Lagos over the weekend, Kwankwaso praised Governor Bago’s leadership style and commitment to development, particularly in the areas of agriculture, youth empowerment and education.

Two years down the line, I can confidently say that Governor Bago has scored excellently so far. I call on all governors across the country to emulate what he is doing. Those who have the opportunity to govern now and in the future must strive to do their best, change the narrative, and improve the lives of their people”, he said.

He stated that the governor’s recent initiative to sponsor young people abroad for science-related courses is commendable, adding that it is a step in the right direction.

Kwankwaso urged Bago to continue investing in young people saying they are the real investment as they transcend material wealth.

If you continue this way, doing well and investing in young people, they will appreciate you in the future,” he said.

He added that Bago does not have to be a member of his party to acknowledge the good work he is doing.

“You don’t have to be a member of my party for me to acknowledge your good work. Stay in your party, but I will say it when you are doing well and when you are doing exceptionally well.”

Kwankwaso further stated that Bago had invited him, before he was sworn into office, to share insights on the successes of his administration in Kano State, particularly in education, agriculture, and infrastructure, so he could listen and learn from his experiences.

Kwankwaso also addressed the misconception that leadership is about wealth accumulation.

“Many believe accumulating wealth is everything, but that is not the case. What truly matters is the impact a leader makes, and I can categorically say that Governor Bago is making a significant difference with the achievements he has recorded within a short period.”

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, in his address, enjoined all Nigerians to be tolerant of each other, irrespective of religious differences.

Bago, who was the chairman of the occasion, noted how some people have allowed religion to bring division into society, pointing out that there is no compulsion in religion.

The governor prayed for many more years, good health and vitality for the celebrant.

The celebrant, Archbishop Designate Isaac Idahosa who was full of excitement, expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life, saying that he is the product of God’s grace and mercy because he has passed through many challenges in life, but God has been faithful, hence, he is grateful to God and humanity.

Speaking to Nigerians, the celebrant called on them to be hopeful as it takes time for anything good to come and that Nigerians need to be patient and supportive of the current leadership while praying for their success.
