Bagana Crisis; Ata Igala vows to restore peace, inaugurates reconciliation Committee.

  • As Cmtte visits trouble spots.

The President kogi state traditional council and Ata Igala , HRM Matthew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche has inaugurated peace and reconciliation Committee to resolve the lingering crises rocking Bagana and its environs in Omala Local Government Area of kogi state.


The committee which is headed by the Ejeh of Ibaji LGA, HRH John Egwuemi, Ejeh of Olamaboro, John Ujah who will serve as Secretary, while Etemahi Igalamela, Abel Etuh, Onuh Ankpa, HrH Abdulmalik Umar and Onuh Ojokwu would serve as members.


The Committee which is to enquire and suggests possible solution to the internecine crisis and restore lasting peace in the disputed Bagana communities swung into action and called for memoranda and petitions from the major actors and stakeholders from the area.

The committee which held its inaugural sitting in the Conference Hall of Omala Local Government Council on Tuesday, 13th December, 2022 visited the troubled Bagana and Omagede communities.

The chairman of the Committee, HrH John Egwuemi, while promising to come out with a report that will be acceptable to all the belligerents, lamented at the level of destruction and killings that have been taking place in the area.


The monarch who assured that the committee was not to witch hunt anybody or group of persons , said it is to ensure that the root causes of the age long crises is permanently resolved and to help the displaced citizens to return to their ancestral homes.


The committee which had earlier paid courtesy call on the Chairman , Omala Area Traditional Council, HRH , Boniface Musa, (Ojogba) assured him of the commitment of the committee to do a thorough investigation.


He noted that the committee will turn in a report that will be capable of ending the carnage in line with the aim and vision of his Majesty, Ata Igala.


Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of Omala Local Government Council, Hon. Ibrahim Aboh, some chiefs, indigenes and critical stakeholders in the area were in the entourage of the committee to Bagana and Omagede.
