The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25 presidential election, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, have arrived at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to witness the adoption of final addresses in their petition challenging President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the election.
Obi, who dressed in a brown safari suit like the PDP presidential candidate, Abubakar Atiku, stormed the courtroom with several supporters.
Upon arrival, the former Anambra State governor exchanged pleasantries with senior lawyers from his legal team and those on the opposing sides.
Legal luminary Dr Livy Uzuoku, SAN, is leading a retinue of lawyers to argue the final address on behalf of Obi and the Labour Party in their joint petition.
From the respondents’ sides, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, is billed to make submissions for President Tinubu, while Prince Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, SAN, is leading the legal team of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Former President of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Abubakar Balarabe Mahmood, SAN, is billed to hold forth for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
At the end of the final address adoption, the tribunal, headed by Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani, is expected to announce a date for judgment in the petition.
