The first son of Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president of Nigeria has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Adamu, a former commissioner for works and energy development in Adamawa state, announced his resignation from the PDP in a letter addressed to the party chairman in Jada 1 ward.
In the letter dated March 4, Adamu said his resignation from the PDP takes effect immediately.
His words, “I hereby formally resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Jada 1 Ward with immediate effect.
“I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to have served and the support extended to me by the ward leadership and members over the years,” the former commissioner said.
He also appealed to the ward chairman to accept his letter as a formal notification of his resignation.
In addition, the former commissioner urged the ward chairman to do well by communicating the content of his letter to the appropriate authorities within the PDP.
Recall that Adamu had earlier resigned his position as a commissioner in Adamawa State.
His defection also followed the resignation of his former principal and governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sources within the Adamawa State political ecosystem have also predicted that the former commissioner would likely join his father, Atiku in the African Democratic Party (ADC).
