The Minister of Information and Culture, Mr. Lai Mohammed got a good opportunity to call on the international community to come to our aid in Nigeria but got everything messed up.
In fact, he should bury his face in shame. At a time Nigeria is on fire with killing of over 46 innocent lives in Omogidi village, in Otukpo Local government Area of Benue State by Fulani Militia, here we are having a Minister of Information in New York falsely accusing Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti on treasonable felony. Who does that? In a country of our present predicament?
Instead of tabling our national security issues to the world for assistance, he ended up on trivial political issues that never existed. Because to our knowledge of Obi and Datti had been advocating for peace amongst Nigerian Youths before and even after the general elections, so what was Lai talking about?
For sure Nigerian youths are agitated over the outcome of the Presidential elections, but so far none of the political parties’ candidates have call the youths to cause any unrest; not to our knowledge certainly as leaders of ethnic groups in Nigeria.
Our organization house all the Tribal Youth leaders in Nigeria. Our major concern is the level at which the government cares less about the insecurity bedeviling our communities, is unbelievable how Nigerian Government have become so unconcern about our lives but more concern about trivial political issues.
We are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to live up to his constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and properties of Nigerians. We are pained by the Killings of over 46 innocent lives in Benue State and condemn it in totality.
It is obvious that the Buhari-led government has gotten its military compromised and working for Fulani herdsmen, if not how would one explain this, when the military operatives visited Omogidi village after receiving a distress call of attack on the people and visited the community, they were asked to stay a little longer for a perceived attack but refused and left, not up to 45 minutes, attackers came back and killed over 46 persons, isn’t that compromise?
Is that how President Buhari wants to bid farewell to Nigerians? We will continue to call unto God that the wicked won’t go unpunished. Lai Mohammed and Buhari government should live up to expectation and stop diverting the world’s attention to the real issues of Nigeria.
