KACRAN commends NASS decision to seek extension over period for withdrawal of old Naira notes

A group Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria, KACRAN, has commended Members of National Assembly for their decision on the extension of the period for the withdrawal of old currency notes.

KACRAN in press release issued today by its National President, Hon Khalil Mohd Bello said, “commendation to our esteemed Members of the National Assembly is based on the outcome of the joint session of the two Chambers held on 14th, January, 2023, after which they unanimously decided to call on the Central Bank’s Governor to as a matter of utmost importance save the Nigeria’s economy from avoidable collapse by extending the withdrawal period of the old currency notes to June 2023”

Bello said, “Truly, the Honourable Members of our National Assembly acted promptly and thus deserve the highest commendation not only by Kulen Allah Cattle Rearer Association of Nigeria, KACRAN, but by all well-meaning Nigerians”.

In his words, “At this crucial time, they proved to Nigerians and the entire world that they are good representatives who are there to defend the interest of the people as well as the nation’s economy.

“It is in line with their courageous and patriotic actions that, on behalf of the entire members of our association and other good people of Nigeria that we passionately wish to most respectfully appeal to them to kindly remain resolute in their very strong legislative stand to defend/safeguard the interest of their fatherland and that of our vulnerable and down trodden masses, by making sure that at any Consititutional cost including mounting excessive pressure on Mr President to force the Central Bank Governor reverse his dust raising decision.

“What we are humbly advising them to do is, since (he) CBN governor is saying there is no going back on the ultimatum for the withdrawal of old currency notes, they should therefore use their legislative power to make him do the needful that will satisfy the generality of Nigerians. Majority of Nigerians are calling for the extension of the period for the withdrawal of the old currency notes to December 2023.

“The actions of the National Assembly is happily viewed by KACRAN, as an act in strong defence of the Nigerian masses.

“KACRAN considers this Press release as an act of encouragement to our dear honourable members who did the needful by acting on the interest of the majority people of their constituencies.

“At this juncture, we wish to recall in our last Press statement, KACRAN called on His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Central Bank Governor due to his unacceptable stand to ignore the call/appeal of well-meaning Nigerians to extend the deadline for the withdrawal of the old currency notes.

“And by this commendation from millions of the members of our association, we hope that the members of our national assembly, who are the representatives of the people will continue with their good work to make sure that the deadline fixed by Central Bank Governor is extended to a meaningful time, where by no body will.incure any loss of his hard earnings.

“We also want to use this medium to highly commend Yobe State Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni, who was the only Governor out of the 36 Governors in Nigeria who through his Director General Media, Malam Mamman Mohammed spoke in BBC Hausa on Monday 23rd January, 2023 vehemently called on Central Bank Governor to extend the deadline for the withdrawal of old currency, due to reasons he clearly stated that ….”it is only three or four Local Governments out of the seventeen Local governments in Yobe state have banks” and this makes it impossible for his people who are known nationwide to engage in commercial activities/farming and Cattle rearing to meet up the deadline.

“KACRAN highly regard what governor Mai Mala Buni did as a show of genuine concern for the untold hardship of his people due to the very unpopular Central Bank Governor’s decision, not to extend the dateline for the withdrawal of the old currency.

“We also wish to express our excitement about Arewa Consultative Forum’s appeal through their spoke person Dr Hakim Baba Ahmed to Central Bank’s Governor to extend the deadline for the withdrawal of the old currency notes to a reasonable time that will enable the people of their region who are less educated to exchange their money with the newly introduced currency notes.

“More so, we of KACRAN members would be most highly affected by the “no going back stand”of the CBN governor. Our members will incure unbearable losses, if the time for the withdrawal of old currency notes is not extended. We once more wish to passionately appeal as we categorically did in our earlier press release, for the extension of the date for the withdrawal of the old currency to December 2023.”

“In addition we want to thank all Nigerians that are helping in one way or the other through various means to make sure that the time is extended so that Nigerians will be out of the financial mess, total confusion and uncertainty of the unpopular policy.

“In conclusion, we want to call on all Nigerians to join hands to appeal to His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari to save his people from the extreme difficulties, hunger, and uncertainties of the highest order most Nigerians are going through,” he continued.
