Ex. President Jonathan inaugurates NASENI’s empowerment training for 100 youths in Bayelsa

Former President of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, inaugurated on Tuesday a five-day skill empowerment programme organised by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.

It was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement by the Deputy Director of Information and Protocol, NASENI, Olusegun Ayeoyenikan.

Speaking on the training on electrical installations for 100 youths, Jonathan stated that Nigeria’s economic transformation will be easier with investment in agencies like NASENI and other research and technology institutions.

The former President said: “Science and technology are the secrets of the ongoing fast developments and advancements in the economies of the developed world.”

In her welcome address, the Overseeing Officer of NASENI Office of the Executive Vice Chairman, Mrs Nonyem Onyechi, reiterated the agency’s efforts to build the capacity of young people to create jobs and move toward self-employment.

Onyechi explained that the empowerment workshop aimed at capacity-building for youths in Bayelsa, adding that basic skills in modern electrical installation and maintenance methods align with current trends.

The training commenced on Tuesday, May 9, and will last until May 12, 2023.
