The Nigeria Police Force has graduated no fewer than 422 constables drawn from two states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, from the Police Training School in Minna, Niger State.
The fresh officers from Niger and Kaduna states will be deployed to their original local government areas to assist in tackling communal crimes, said the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman who was represented by AIG Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) Abuja, AIG Habu Sani Ahmadu.
He explained that the Constables will be deployed to their original local governments to further deepen the community policing strategy of the Federal Government to maximize their local knowledge in addressing communal crimes.
The IGP disclosed that the event took place simultaneously at fifteen other Police Training Institutions across the country with a total of 9,989 out of 10,000 recruits who embarked on the training.
He said a total of eleven trainees were dropped because they could not meet the standard set for the exercises during the training.
Usman said,” the event marks the joyful climax of a physically exerting and intellectually challenging training activities. The training was carefully designed to transit the recruits from civilianship to professional policemen/women with the right orientation to meet the challenges of policing an increasingly democratic and rule of law-driven Nigerian environment”.
The Police boss noted that soon, another set of 10,000 recruits will resume training under the 2021 batch of the exercise cutting across the 774 LGAs of the country with regards to Federal Character tenets.
He then urged the graduands to be disciplined as it is the bedrock of policing and to uphold professionalism in the line of duty.
In his address, the Commandant of the institution, ACP Amodu Aloko thanked the Police high authority for their managerial roles in providing a conducive environment for the recruits during the training.
Also, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, in his speech applauded the recruitment process, while thanking the Niger State Government for supporting the Police and other security agencies operating in the state
