The All Progressives Congress (APC) has restated its commitment to capturing Adamawa State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 governorship election.
The fresh vow was made on Monday as the party takes steps to resolve internal conflicts and strengthen its grassroots presence.
A resolution committee, established by the APC national headquarters, met with party officials in Adamawa State to initiate the reconciliation process. The committee, led by Senator Mohammed Mana, aims to mend fences and reunify the party, enabling it to wrest power from the PDP.
Senator Mana emphasized the importance of reconciliation, stating that the APC is a grassroots party that must mend its fences to grow stronger. He commended the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, for his efforts in reconciling aggrieved party members.
The Chairman of the APC in Adamawa State, Idris Shuaibu, expressed optimism that the reconciliation efforts would yield positive results in the 2027 governorship election.
Muhammed Mana had earlier in the month pledged to unify the party and ensure a majority win in the 2027 elections.
Mana made the pledge shortly after meeting with the National Working Committee NWC of the party led by Dr Abdullahi Ganduje in Abuja.
He had said; “Our intention is to make sure that everybody comes back. That is why we are starting very early. The 2027 election is about two or three years to go. So, that is why we are starting very early to go down to all the nooks and crannies of Adamawa State to woo people back.
“Adamawa is a critical state, and we are committed to ensuring APC wins majority seats in 2027. We will reach out to those who felt sidelined during the primaries and general elections to unify the party under the APC banner.”
The APC had previously governed Adamawa State, producing the governor in 2015. However, the party failed to regain power in 2019 and 2023, attributing its losses to internal conflicts.
