NITDA Launches Digital Literacy Initiative with NYSC Corps Members at Kubwa Orientation Camp

Today, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) unveiled a transformative initiative aimed at propelling Nigeria toward a digitally empowered future. At the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja, the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, addressed a group of enthusiastic Corps members selected as Champions of the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) initiative.

This groundbreaking program enlists the passion and dedication of Nigeria’s vibrant youth to drive digital literacy across the country. These Corps members, strategically deployed to communities nationwide, will train and sensitize residents on essential digital skills, ensuring widespread accessibility to the tools needed in a technology-driven world.

Speaking to the Corps members, Kashifu Inuwa emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating:
“Our vision of achieving 70% digital literacy by 2027 is rooted in the belief that every Nigerian deserves the opportunity to thrive in a digital economy. This initiative not only equips individuals with critical skills but also fosters national development by ensuring no one is left behind in the digital revolution.”

The DL4ALL program is a key pillar of NITDA’s strategy to align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes youth empowerment and the creation of an inclusive digital economy. By addressing the digital skills gap, the initiative seeks to unlock economic opportunities, foster innovation, and build resilient communities across Nigeria.

Participants in the program expressed their excitement and commitment to the mission. One Corps member, Amina Yusuf, shared, “This is an opportunity to not just serve my country but to be part of a movement that transforms lives through technology. I’m ready to make a difference in my community.”

The DL4ALL initiative represents a bold step toward NITDA’s vision of a digitally literate Nigeria. By leveraging the energy and reach of NYSC Corps members, the agency is paving the way for a future where technology serves as a unifying force for prosperity and progress.

Stay tuned as we follow the journey of these digital champions and the communities they impact.
