The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) recently hosted a delegation from the newly established Kebbi State Ministry of Digital Economy, signaling a major step toward unlocking the state’s digital potential. The delegation, led by the Commissioner for Digital Economy, Hon. Muhammad Ibrahim, met with NITDA officials to discuss strategic collaborations aimed at fostering innovation and growth in the state’s digital sector.
In the meeting, NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, reiterated the agency’s commitment to supporting Kebbi State’s ambitious digital transformation agenda. He highlighted NITDA’s proven track record in fostering IT development across Nigeria and assured the delegation of the agency’s readiness to leverage its expertise and resources to create a robust digital ecosystem in the state.
Hon. Muhammad Ibrahim, in turn, expressed his ministry’s vision of positioning Kebbi State as a digital innovation hub in Nigeria. He underscored the importance of partnerships with federal institutions like NITDA to drive key initiatives, including digital skills training, e-governance, and tech-based solutions to enhance socio-economic development.
The discussions explored several areas of collaboration, including the development of tech hubs, capacity-building programs, and the integration of digital technology into critical sectors such as agriculture, education, and healthcare. Both parties emphasized the need to harness Kebbi State’s potential by creating an enabling environment for startups, SMEs, and digital innovators.
This partnership comes at a pivotal time as Nigeria seeks to diversify its economy through technology and innovation. By aligning with NITDA’s objectives, Kebbi State aims to bridge the digital divide, empower its youth, and attract investment in the technology sector.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to fast-track plans and initiate programs that will set Kebbi State on the path to becoming a leading player in Nigeria’s digital economy.
This development showcases the growing recognition of digital technology as a catalyst for socio-economic transformation, not just at the national level but across states. As Kebbi State embraces this opportunity, the impact of this collaboration is expected to resonate far beyond its borders.
