Kogi State Is First To Implement New National Minimum Wage – Hon. Onuh Edoka

The Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka has said Kogi is among the few state in the Country to implement the new minimum wage of 72,500.

Comrade Edoka made this known on Thursday while receiving Executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Kogi state Council.

He said in the recently held National Executive Council, (NEC), meeting of the Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC), help in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Kogi state was rated very high being the only state that met all the laid down requirements by the NLC minimum wage committee.
He applauded the Executive Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji, Ahmed Usman Ododo for paying more than the Federal Government benchmark of N70,000 to workers in the state.

According to him, the positive development followed the Governor’s commitment to workers welfare which he noted was second to none.

Hon. Edoka who is the immediate past Chairman of NLC appreciated the NUJ and its leadership for recognizing the Governor’s modest achievements within a short period in office, saying he will continue to partner with the media in the state.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the NUJ, Alhaji Ademu Haruna Seidu said the visit was to formally congratulate him on his appointment and to thank the government for it’s positive impact in the lives of workers and pensioners.

He assured that the media will continue to collaborate with his office and Kogi state government to discharge their duties effectively and always portray the present administration in good light in line with it’s impressive performance.

Alhaji Ademu Seidu appealed to the Special Adviser to sustain his good works, adding that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has started well to the admiration of the people.
