Tinubu Seeks Senate Nod for Seven New Ministers Amid National Reshuffle

President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate to confirm the nomination of seven individuals for appointment as ministers in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The request, contained in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, was read during Thursdayโ€™s plenary session.

The nominated individuals are Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, Muhammadu Dingyadi, Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, Mukhtar Maiha, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, and Dr Suwaiba Ahmad.

These candidates are expected to fill key administrative roles as part of Tinubuโ€™s ongoing efforts to strengthen his cabinet.

In his letter, President Tinubu urged the Senate to expedite the confirmation process, ensuring that these nominees could begin their ministerial duties immediately.

โ€œTheir experience and dedication are crucial for the ongoing national reforms,โ€ the letter emphasised.

Following the letterโ€™s reading, Senate President Akpabio referred the nomination request to the Senateโ€™s committee of the whole for swift consideration.

The committee will review each nomineeโ€™s qualifications and suitability before deciding on their appointments.

This development comes at a pivotal time as Tinubu continues to shape his government, with expectations high for the newly selected candidates to play significant roles in advancing the administrationโ€™s agenda.

The Senate is anticipated to schedule a hearing in the coming days to scrutinise the nomineesโ€™ credentials and deliberate on their potential impact on national policies.
