A Rivers State High Court has issued a fresh court order preventing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from proceeding with its planned congresses in the state.
The development comes amid ongoing tensions within the party as the power play between Governor Sim Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike continues.
The court’s injunction halts the PDP’s congress activities, which were intended to elect new party officials and leaders at various levels within the state.
The order is another challenge for the party as the division among key stakeholders continues.
Political watchers say the latest development may have a negative impact on the party’s electoral chances.
