The Arewa Youth Protection, Unity and Peaceful Forum in Kano State has raised concerns about the proliferation of suspicious food additives in the Singer Market, a prominent commodity market in the state.
The forum, therefore, petitioned several regulatory bodies, including the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), the state’s Ministry of Health and the Kano State Government.
In a communiqué signed by the forum’s Secretary General, Comrade Ali Sani Haladu, and released to the press, the forum expressed alarm over the presence of fake, counterfeit and substandard food additives being sold to consumers.
The forum noted that following an investigation into the matter, it convened an emergency meeting to address the issue and decided to inform relevant authorities about the situation.
