24,535 Candidates To Rewrite UTME As JAMB Releases Additional Results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released additional 3,921 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.

The board has also rescheduled a total of 24,535 candidates to resit for the exam on Saturday, June 22.

This was contained in a statement by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, made available to journalists on Sunday.

Benjamin said 322 candidates were migrated to the category of those under examination misconduct as a prima-facie case was clearly established that those who had registered were not those who appeared for the examination.

He disclosed that the number of examination misconduct has consequently been increased by 322 to 431.

While noting that the Board yielded to pressure to extend the period for the 2024 Direct Entry (DE) registration, and as such decided to bring the DE registration to a close on Monday, 17th June 2024, Benjamin said the Board had painstakingly analysed the process and conduct of the 2024 UTME in some centres where there were strong proofs of substantial non-compliance with the Board’s standards.

“Consequently, 24,535 candidates have been rescheduled to retake the examination in their chosen Examination Towns on Saturday, June 22, 2024,” he said.

He further said the supplementary examination was scheduled for the candidates from Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS) and the Kwara State University (KWASU).

Also to take the supplementary examination are 2,702 of candidates whose fingers could not be verified and have been given the benefit of the doubt to sit the 2024 UTME.

“The Board, having yielded in the last one month to the request and pleas of many stakeholders and authorities for the extension of the period for the 2024 Direct Entry (DE) registration, has decided to bring the DE registration to a close on Monday, 17th June,2024,” the statement reads.

He however listed some centres where it will facilitate the wrap-up of the registration, saying, the DE registration points have been expanded beyond the Professional Registration Centres (PRCs) owned by JAMB in states of Lagos, Osun, Kwara and Oyo where there is an upsurge of prospective DE candidates.

He said: “This concession is to ensure that, while standards are being maintained, efforts are in place to support and promote the aspirations of qualified and willing candidates even if it requires bending over backwards.”

“Therefore, concerned candidates are urged to check their results from Saturday, 1st June 2024 by sending RESULT to 55019 or 66019 to ascertain their status as those cleared would have their results while those rescheduled would be told that they had been rescheduled. The rescheduled candidates are to print their supplementary Examination Notification Slip from Tuesday, 4th June 2024 to ascertain their designated examination centres.”
