Former governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, has said Rivers State will remain peaceful if Governor Sim Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, continue to exhibit restraint.
Dickson urged Fubara to continue showing restraint because power without it was dangerous.
He gave the advice while addressing Fubara when he led a Bayelsa State delegation of political and traditional leaders to Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
The former governor also applauded President Bola Tinubu’s interventions and efforts in bringing stability to Rivers State, as well as the efforts of other leaders who have tried to resolve the political issues privately and publicly.
Calling for political maturity, Dickson told Fubara: “Power without restraint is one of the most dangerous things, but you have restraint; continue to show that.
“Even lesser developments in other states could have set a whole state on fire, but with your calm demeanour and your purposeful leadership, and with the support of the citizenry and with the restraint that both you and your predecessor have shown, this state, even as we witness today, continues to be peaceful, and we pray it should be so forever.”
