The Registrar/Chief Executive of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Professor Segun Ajiboye, has emerged as the Africa Federation of Teaching Regulatory Authorities (AFTRA) President.
Reports that Ajiboye was elected as President of the organisation during an election held in Ghana.
The organisation is a continental body comprising all teaching regulatory authorities in all the 54 African countries.
Our correspondent reports that the election was part of the activities for the 9th Annual Conference of the organisation and 11th Roundtable of the Federation held in Accra, Ghana.
Ajiboye, who spoke shortly after his emergence, promised not to let the federation down and to expand AFTRA activities to more French and Arabic-speaking countries.
He disclosed that the election is a further confirmation of the giant strides Nigeria has been recording in boosting teachers’ morale.
He spoke further by saying that he will assist countries that are yet to have teacher regulatory bodies to establish one.
Other elected officers of the organisation included Deputy President from Zambia, Secretary-General from Ghana, Treasurer from Namibia and Assistant Secretary-General from South Africa.
