Sunshine Stars head coach, Edith Agoye has commended his players for their outstanding display during the first half of the campaign.
The Akure club defeated Wikki Tourists 1-0 on Sunday to go into the mid-season on a good note.
The result saw the Owena Waves maintain their push for a first Nigeria Premier Football League title.
Agoye, who took charge of the team at the start of the season, was delighted with their performance so far.
“I must congratulate the players for their display throughout the first phase of the season,” Agoye told DAILY POST.
“This victory is really important to us.
“It will help us push more when the second half of the season begins,” he said.
The NPFL will embark on a break after the conclusion of matchday nine matches on Monday.
Action will resume in the 2022/23 campaign on March 25.
