Enthusiastic Christians in Kaduna have continued to prepare for the celebrations despite the apparent hardship in society.
Newsmen observed men and women, young and old, early on Saturday morning trooping to slaughterhouses for their meats.
In Kakuri, Sabon-Tasha, Angwar Tarke, Nassarawa, Kasuwan visited by our correspondent, many residents were seen roasting and cooking their chickens and goats.
Although some residents had earlier expressed worry over the cost of food items, meat and condiments in the market ahead of Christmas, they are, however, spending the much-needed funds to make merry during the season.
A resident, Dr. Samuel Adoyi who works with St. Gerald hospital, Kaduna said, ” Christmas is once in a year. I must celebrate and make provision, no matter the cost of foodstuff and meat.”
Mrs. Juliet Obonyilo, a market woman in Sabon Tasha, said Christmas is not a do-or-die celebration and that she would celebrate if she has the purchasing power.
“I can not because of Christmas borrow money and I cannot pay. I cannot because of Christmas steal food or meat. I will only do things according to my reach.” She said.
