Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State has again cautioned traditional rulers against land grabbing.
He was also observed to have warned them against allowing illegal mining in their communities.
The warning came on Thursday while Ishaku was playing host to monarchs Aka Uka of Wukari, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali, and the Gara of Donga, Sanvala Varzoa Shimbura.
The two first-class traditional rulers, who were recently presented with staffs of office, were paying a thank-you visit to the governor in Jalingo, the state capital.
Stressing that the creation of additional chiefdoms has heralded the much-desired peace and development to the state, traditional rulers, as made known by him, are now working closely with their subjects to protect their domain which must be sustained for continuous development.
Arguing that no one has the right to mine any mineral in the state without the approval of the designated ministry, he urged the traditional rulers to work round the clock to frustrate any form of illegal mining in their areas.
While reiterating his administration’s commitment to extend the much desired olive branch to farmers spread across the state, such a move, he believed, would go a long way to provide food for the people.
Speaking, the newly crowned Aku Uka of Wukari, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali, said they were at the Government House to thank Ishaku for his great effort for their successful coronation and presentation of staff of office.
The Aku Uka, who doubles as the Chairman of the Taraba State Council of Chiefs, appealed to the governor to tread an extra legitimate mile to appoint a paramount ruler for the Takum local government council.
