President of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), Yerima Shettima, has decried the plight of the people of northern Nigeria.
The activist raised the concern in a chat with reporters in Kaduna on Tuesday.
Shettima noted that the youths were fundamental to sustainable peace and security in the country.
The AYCF leader advised the government to create an atmosphere for them to thrive.
He said providing jobs was not enough, but a conducive environment to develop their potential, as well as skills acquisition.
Shettima charged the state and local governments to complement the efforts of the federal government.
“Northern part of the country has never had it well at all, and who are the direct victims?
“The youth and the women have suffered so much”, he added.
Commenting on the 2023 presidential election, Shettima advised the North to unite and give all candidates a level playing field.
