‘Emir Sanusi is with us’ – El-Rufai’s family rejects Kperogi’s claim of neglect

The family of the embattled former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, has dismissed insinuations that the Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II, has neglected El-Rufai in his hour of need.

‎Responding to an article written by Professor Farooq Kperogi, titled “Sanusi and the Betrayal of El-Rufai”, in his column in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the wife of Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, Asia Mohammed Ahmad, said the Emir had stood by them at all times.

‎Asia Mohammed Ahmad, who took to her Facebook page to respond to the analysis, said Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II remained their father and that they respected him at all times.

‎“I want to clarify that HH is with us and Mallam’s post has nothing to do with HRH SLS, so pls stop alluding to things that you don’t know!”

‎She added: “I am glad to note that Kperogi mentioned that there may be things people don’t know.”

‎Bello El-Rufai also supported his mother, remarking that, “indeed Emir Muhammadu Sanusi, remains our Father and he truly stand with Us”.

‎Many people who commented on the Facebook post by El-Rufai’s wife, Asia Mohammed Ahmad, said there was little or nothing the Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II, could do about the ongoing trial of Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai.

‎One of the commentators, Mallam Muhammad Bello, described Kperogi’s article as “simply goofing”, arguing that a traditional title holder such as an Emir had no role to play in an issue such as El-Rufai’s case.

‎“Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, just like other Emirs, is controlled by the governor; so I don’t see how the Emir of Kano will interfere in the El-Rufai case,” he wrote.
