Okengwe-Ehi Announces Nine-Day Coronation For New Ohindase

The people of Okengwe-Ehi in Kogi State have announced a nine-day programme of activities to mark the coronation and installation of the new Ohindase of Okengwe-Ehi, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Okidi.

The activities, scheduled for Saturday, October 3 to Sunday, October 11, 2026, will feature traditional rites, cultural displays, a colloquium, entertainment programmes and a special reception organised by the Friends of Ohindase.

A major highlight of the programme is the colloquium scheduled for Monday, October 5, at AFIMS Hotel. The event is expected to provide a platform for intellectual and cultural discourse on the preservation, promotion and transmission of Ebira cultural heritage to present and future generations.

The colloquium is expected to attract sons and daughters of Ebira from across Nigeria and the diaspora, traditional rulers, academics, community leaders, professionals and other stakeholders. Prof. Sunny Ododo is expected to deliver the keynote address.

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, alongside prominent traditional and community leaders, is also expected to grace the occasion.

The organisers said the coronation would provide an opportunity to celebrate the traditional institution while fostering greater appreciation of Ebira cultural heritage and its role in promoting peaceful coexistence, unity, mutual respect and sustainable community development.

They therefore invited the people of Ebira, friends of the Ohindase of Okengwe-Ehi, cultural enthusiasts and members of the public to participate in the historic celebration.
